Getting to Mumbai

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM)

Mumbai's main international airport. Terminal 2 handles all international flights and most full-service domestic carriers. Terminal 1 handles low-cost domestic airlines.

From the Airport — Taxi / Cab

Pre-paid taxis and Ola/Uber are available outside both terminals. Journey to South Mumbai or BKC takes 45–90 minutes depending on traffic. Cost: ₹600–₹1,200.

From the Airport — Metro

Mumbai Metro Line 1 connects Versova to Ghatkopar. The new airport metro line (Line 2B) provides direct connectivity from the airport to the western suburbs.

Direct Flight Hubs

Mumbai is well connected from Dubai (DXB), Singapore (SIN), London (LHR), New York (JFK), Frankfurt (FRA), and all major Asian hubs. Check IndiGo, Air India, Emirates, and Singapore Airlines for best fares.

Getting Around Mumbai

Ola & Uber

The most convenient option for IBW attendees. Both apps work reliably across Mumbai. Download the apps before you arrive and link your card or use cash. Surge pricing applies during peak hours.

Mumbai Metro

A fast and affordable option for travelling across the city. The network is rapidly expanding. Buy tokens at the station or use a UPI app. Recommended for reaching the BKC / Andheri areas.

Auto-Rickshaws

Available in the suburbs (north of Bandra). Not permitted in South Mumbai. Great for short distances. Always insist the driver uses the meter, or agree on a fare upfront.

Local Trains

The backbone of Mumbai's transit — fast and vast, but crowded and complex for first-time visitors. The Western Line and Central Line are most useful. Not recommended during rush hours.
